On Welsh Gold Jewelry

Gold always makes an ideal gift to give out during because it is exquisite, rare and beautiful. You do not just commemorate a special occasion in a person’s life by giving Welsh gold. You also make it more special. Occasion could be anything from birthday, Christening, anniversary, engagement or simply because you felt like giving it and a Welsh gold jewelry can definitely awe your recipient.

Welsh gold is expensive because it is rare. It is rare because it is mined only from the three mines in Welsh. Clogau Gold Mine is one of the few mines in Welsh that produces this rare gold. Unfortunately, the supply of Welsh gold is almost running out and most experts predicted that it will only last until 2016 considering the rate that it is being mined today. That’s just is years from now. Before the supplies ran out, it is then your generous responsibility to buy Welsh gold jewelry not only for yourself but also for the younger generations who will otherwise not know the essence of Welsh jewelry.

The younger generations currently are not in the position to fully comprehend or have the capacity to invest in Welsh gold that is why it is important that you do so in their behalf. When these younger generations get older, it is guaranteed that they will be grateful that you took the time and effort to purchase gold which is sure to become timeless and priceless. When they start a family of their own, time will come when they will pass their gold jewelry to the next generation-their sons or daughters. For this reason, it is essential that you choose a nice design that everyone from different ages will love wearing. If you are going to give the gift to a boy or a male, you can purchase a watch or a pair of cufflinks which are the most popular items in men’s jewelry, aside from pendants and necklaces that are also specifically designed for males made out of Welsh gold.

On the other hand, women will definitely appreciate rings, bracelets and earrings crafted out of Welsh gold. You just need to choose a lovely design that is sturdy enough to stand decades. You can also consider the fact that Welsh gold is available in silver and Rose gold, as well as yellow and Rose gold. Depending on what you perceive is attractive and what your recipient will feel like wearing, you can make the best choice. Either choices are beautiful and can surely look stunning and are apt to be worn for formal or casual occasions. Giving Welsh gold is also another way of passing down Welsh heritage to the next generations. This particular gift can crate an awareness of Welsh culture.

The people of Wales are very proud whenever they wear gold jewelry that is mined from their own place. If you love Welsh heritage, then you can choose from different symbols that can definitely symbolize the country of Wales. You can opt for sessile oak acorn and leaf, daffodils, Welsh dragon, spoons and many more.

David Yurman Jewelry And Designer

David Yurman Brief History

David Yurman began his artistic career as a sculptor during the 1960s. During this time his wife encouraged him to transform his sculpting designs into copper belt buckles and this was the beginning of things to come.

He then worked for a brief period with Cartier and tried to expand his experience with Tiffany but was turned down. This rejection encouraged him to design and market his own unique jewelry designs which led to the creation of David Yurman Inc in 1979.

At that time the jewelry trend was gold chains and flashy medallions and he decided to buck the trend with twisted cable sterling silver, and the gamble paid off. Within four years David Yurman received the 1983 InterGold Award which finally gave him the international recognition that he deserved. His signature collection features twisting sterling silver ropes, or “cables,” fashioned into necklaces, bracelets and rings.

He went on to design and create a wide range of pieces with a huge variety of styles. His experimental nature paid off handsomely and he soon became a recognised name in the jewelry industry. People started clamoring for his designs.

As mentioned above, the most popular pieces are cable jewelry made into silver ropes that are twisted into different shapes. These are then set with stones and made available in the market.

There are also thoroughbred automatic watches which are very popular with men. They look formal and rich, and go with any outfit. There are equally dazzling timepieces for women and children too.

You can get bracelets and simple chains for new born children, stunning earrings for teenage girls and a selection of wedding jewelry including grooms and bridesmaids.

David Yurman Inspired Jewelry

David Yurman creates high end jewelry but most people find them to be quite expensive. The solution came in the form of designer inspired jewelry. Professionals examine the trends set by the major players and create designer inspired pieces using less expensive materials. They might not use the exact same material as the original but they sure look as if they do.

You can have a designer image for a lot less money if you wear quality inspired jewelry instead, AND it will look just as impressive. Even a trained eye will find it difficult to tell the difference.

You can buy designer inspired pieces for as little as one tenth of the actual price of an authentic piece and no one will know the difference… unless you tell them.

Many of the wealthiest people on the planet wear inspired jewelry because it is a great way to build up an impressive collection and keep up with the ever-changing fashion trends.

Jewelry and the Art of Selling

Two of the most frequently asked questions we get at the Online Jewelry Appraisal Center is:

“How do I sell an item of Antique or Estate Jewelry?” or…
“How much should I ask for it?”

Very often people receive an item as a ‘Hand Down’ or ‘Bequest’ after someone has passed away.
It may or may not be worth something, or the person ‘Just doesn’t like it’….

So what to do?

# RULE 1: Take back control.

The Antique Trade in general are a Fine and Trusting lot, but there are always the ‘Shyster’ or ‘Fagin’ characters out there.

In this case it’s not Buyer Beware, but Seller Beware…

Sometimes the Second-Hand Dealers or Pawn Brokers (all of whom have a great general knowledge on Buying and Selling) may not QUITE know what your particular item is really worth.

So the first thing to do is get your item appraised and valued by a qualified gemologist (if there are gemstones involved) and/or a member of the local Valuers association. Your local, TRUSTED Jeweler might be both.

It is greatly suggested that the person you obtain a valuation from, is NOT INVOLVED IN THE PURCHASE OF THE ITEM.

But a further word of advice is given here too…

Let these people know ‘WHAT YOU WANT THE VALUATION FOR’.

There are several TYPES of Valuation and all will have a different price on the bottom line.

Did you want an Insurance valuation?

Did you want to sell the item to a third party?

Did you wish to sell the item through an Auction?

Did you just want to know what it would fetch?

All of these are very valid points, yet all are different.

If you are not sure which applies to your particular situation, why not check our very helpful information section on ‘TYPES OF VALUATIONS’ at the Online Jewelry Appraisal Centre (address shown below).

If you don’t want to go to a great expense, you might take advantage of the useful ‘Do it Yourself’ ONLINE Valuation Self Appraisal Kit. At such a low fee (less than the price of a Big Mac and Coke) it’s money well spent. Indeed, if you just purchased something on eBay or Yahoo auctions for example, you might wish to confirm an approximate value by using this easy to use valuation kit.

The ‘walk through’ instructions are so easy my 6yr old Granddaughter completed the form in under ten minutes. (She had it all wrong of course) but it was under ten minutes.

‘Just Kidding…’ It couldn’t be simpler.

My other Granddaughter (Rachael was eight) did it easy AND correct!

So if you recently bought something from a local Dealer, on the Market or at the Antique Fair, why not get it checked. What’s the worst that could happen? You blow some loose change – Not much of a Risk, is it?

At this price it’s a Bargain, plus there are many other advantages to having your Jewelry done at the Online Jewelry Appraisal Center.

# RULE 2: Pick your Market.

What do we mean by this is:

Are you in a hurry to Cash something in?
Do you have the time to ‘Try, Try again…’ should something NOT sell the first time around?
What are the costs involved?
How about selling something ‘On Consignment?’

Auction Houses are a great way to sell your Jewelry, but even the best of them have costs. Find out BEFORE you sell.

Selling on Consignment is another good method, as you should get more money from the sale than if you sold it directly to an Antique Dealer. BUT IT MIGHT TAKE MORE TIME.

Are the Classified Ads in the local paper worth doing?

In our experience… NO! Plus you have the extra security problem associated with someone coming to your Home to inspect the goods – ‘And Check out all your other stuff too.’

It’s just not Worth it…

Jewelry and the Stars

The walk by celebrities down the red carpet at the annual Academy Awards is probably just as anticipated by television viewers all over the world as the presentation of the awards themselves. The ladies are the stars of the show, and there’s just something enthralling about seeing them decked out in all their finery for the event. The gowns and the jewelry they’re wearing all reinforce that they are stars, a step above us ordinary mortals.

There have been many examples of female celebrities who have been photographed wearing pieces of jewelry that are simply stunning at the Oscars throughout the years. Madonna, for instance, was wearing $20 million worth of diamonds at her neck, ears, and wrists at the 1991 Oscars. At this year’s event, the jewelry worn by the stars were no less eye-catching, and they included just about every design imaginable in just about every hue of the rainbow.

Best Actress nominee Keira Knightley was wearing a vintage Bulgari chandelier necklace of diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, whose colors were reminiscent of a peacock’s feathers. Jennifer Lopez was wearing dangling earrings and a necklace of gold and diamonds by Fred Leighton, who also designed Dolly Parton’s earrings and brooch. Charlize Theron’s tawny earrings were supplied by Chopard; so were Hilary Swank’s diamond earrings, bracelet and ring. Diamonds were also the favored stones of actresses like Jennifer Aniston, who sported a cleavage-enhancing necklace. Other female celebrities who were seen wearing diamond jewelry were Best Supporting Actress winner Rachel Weisz, Queen Latifah, Felicity Huffman and Jessica Alba.

Diamonds were also the bling of choice for the men of the evening. Diamond studs adorned the earlobes of the likes of Ludacris and Will Smith. But members of the hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia took the obsession with diamonds a little further — they were wearing everything from diamond bracelets to diamond watches to diamond earrings, and according to some accounts, they even had diamonds on their teeth.

Many of these stars don’t own the millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry that they were wearing. Giants in the jewelry industry, such as Harry Winston, Michael Katz, and Kwiat, have been lending their masterpieces for celebrities to wear every year at the Oscars. This gives them great exposure, which translates into a sharp increase in sales — especially for designers whose jewels are worn by an award winner. While the red carpet can symbolize glamour for Oscar viewers around the world, for the designers, the red carpet represents the probability of greater profits both at home and in other countries.

The jewelry worn by celebrities during the Academy Awards adds a greater dimension of glamour to the event. Whether the designs are discreet or ostentatious doesn’t really matter. What matters is that with millions of viewers all over the globe, celebrities should look like they have the right to walk down the red carpet. And with the help of the jewelry they’re wearing, they do. The stars shine ever more brightly once a year during the Oscars.
